In 2013 Richard Daniel Curtis, a behaviour expert working in a local authority, grew tired of the impact of the cuts and the changes it meant for vulnerable people. He left to set up a consultancy service for schools and colleges.
When the unexpected close of the charity Kids Company happened, Richard was one of the professionals involved in the meetings to action plan the interventions required. In time this led to Richard working with the Home Office on the now defunct Syrian Resettlement Programme.
At about the same time, the team were getting requests for consultancy from companies employing apprentices with additional needs.
The combination of these two events, led Richard to explore taking the Learning Mentor training he had been delivering in schools and developing a range of mentoring courses.
These new courses were incredibly well-received by the market and The Mentoring School were born!
