Who is this course for?
Teachers, teaching assistants, learning mentors and other pastoral staff in primary, secondary and alternative provision education settings. It is especially popular with those who are looking for a specialised qualification which directly addresses the unique challenges around student behaviour.
Course Overview
This live online mentor training course combines the content of the National Children’s Mentor and National Young Person’s Mentor Qualifications. Units cover developing best practice skills on overcoming barriers, adapting learning approaches, and effective tools for interventions.
This includes practical methods of how to assess, plan and deliver interventions for social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Staff are enabled to understand the root causes of the behavioural challenges presented by their students, as well as adaptive methods for addressing them.
The live online mentor training format gives you the opportunity to discuss these topics with others from across the education sector, hearing and sharing experiences to add deeper context that further enhances the course content.

Course Duration
3 training days + portfolio
Live online mentor training will be delivered over three days, spread out across 3 months to allow time for applying the learning in live settings. Participants will complete a portfolio based on case studies of their choice examining this real application or a suitable hypothetical. All learners are fully supported by our dedicated team throughout their course if they have any questions/issues.
