Multiple award win a “clear sign of impact” with organisations, says leading mental health champion

Our parent company The Root Of It, a leading provider of workplace mental health strategy consultancy and training provider, is proud to announce that it has been recognised with three business awards.

The company has won the Business Innovation award from Corporate Livewire Innovation Awards and the Best Workplace Mental Health Strategy Consultancy award for southern England, organised by the Business Elite Awards. The third award is for Richard personally – as the CEO of the Year for Systemic Mental Health Strategy and Behavioural Policy in the local Southampton awards.

Founded in 2013 by renowned mental health expert Richard Daniel Curtis, The Root Of It began its journey with a single cheque for £750 from a client. Today the Hampshire based consultancy has grown considerably and is now a trusted adviser to thousands of companies up and down the country – helping schools, businesses and government departments to develop their people strategy, develop leadership skills, drive up productivity and meet staff needs.

All three awards are in recognition of the company’s journey, ability to innovate and Richard’s expertise as a CEO in the mental health and wellbeing sector. From setting up as a sole trader with only a day’s work, to developing scalable training courses, forging a partnership with an awarding body, and a bounce back loan during the pandemic, these awards celebrate the company’s resilience and ability to weather many of the challenges it faces.

It was during the pandemic that the company developed training courses for mental health leads in schools across England and brought together a consortium of local authorities and training providers across the country. With a market share of over 13% and delivering training courses to almost 2000 schools, Richard then co-authored the guidance for the mental health curriculum in England, following a request for the Department for Education.

The recognition highlights the organisation’s commitment to transforming mental health support in the workplace and schools through innovative, evidence-based strategies that deliver measurable outcomes for all.

Over the past year, The Root Of It has worked with organisations across multiple sectors to design and implement tailored mental health programmes that improve employee wellbeing, strengthen workplace culture and support overall company performance and productivity.

With a money back guarantee across all its training courses, the company is bold in its approach and is known for its ability to challenge conventional thinking and deliver real, tangible results.

Richard Daniel Curtis, founder of The Root Of It said: “We are incredibly proud to have received these awards. Innovation, strategy and our ability to provide honest and evidence-based guidance are what we’re known for.

“Awards like this show we do exactly what we say we will. They’re also a clear sign of the impact our work has on organisational performance.

“And as someone who has built this business from the ground up, I know firsthand about the importance of resilience. That’s why companies can be sure that if they put their trust in me, I will help to build greater resilience in theirs – and that all starts by putting in place strategies and training which put their people first.”
