IEP Mentor for Employability and Careers Programme

Course satisfaction rate: new course, still being calculated

Introducing the IEP Mentor for Employability and Careers Programme, a certified mentor programme designed specifically for the employability sector.

Many professionals working in the employability sector are expected to get the best out of their clients, achieve progressions and provide mentoring for them. However there has been no specialist training available and so those colleagues who have been fortunate enough to access training have often needed to access and then adapt generic training. Many working in the sector have simply had no mentoring training despite being expected to use the skills. This has led to confusion, different approaches, incorrect use of mentoring and even a lack of boundaries or over reliance on the mentors from clients.

Now the Institute of Employability Professionals are delighted to worked with the specialists at The Mentoring School to develop a specialist pathway for colleagues who are working in the sector. This CPD programme has been developed by a psychologist working in the sector to address:

  • Theories and frameworks of mentoring
  • Structuring mentoring conversations
  • Recognising the balance between listening and offering advice
  • Differences between coaching and mentoring techniques and when to use each

The IEP Practitioner Mentor for Career and Employability Programme will give you the skills to unlock the potential of your mentees, Identify the gaps in their skillset and coach them to realise their own goals, while giving you a recognised level 3 qualification.

The importance of understanding the individuality of your mentee is key to unlocking the tools they require to achieve their goals. The Practitioner Mentor for Career and Employability Programme will show you how to identify and relate to your mentees individual learning style and mindset. Allowing you to pass on your knowledge in a way that will be understood and retained by your mentee.
