Why Access Free Mentor Training?

The truth is that there are many misconceptions about mentoring and what is needed in order to establish an effective mentorship. When treated as just another buzzword, it can be easy to gain the impression that all that is required to fulfil the role is to have relevant experience and a passion to share. This can lead to people thinking that they are providing mentoring when actually they are either telling others what to do (instructing) or passing on skills (teaching).

Whilst experience and passion are important parts of being a mentor, there is actually a much deeper level of theory and structure which underpins true mentoring. This includes the responsibilities and limitations of the role, key skills such as active listening and maintaining boundaries, and understanding how to build real trust within the mentoring relationship to name a few.

Mentoring as a process puts the mentee at the very center of the work. To do this, the mentor makes informed decisions about the approach they will take to provide support and guidance, whilst the mentee sets the agenda and takes ownership of the agreed outcomes.

Clearly then, it is vital that anyone looking to offer mentoring has a solid understanding of the fundamental principles which form the foundation of effective practice.

That is why we at The Mentoring School are so passionate about developing and delivering mentoring training. No matter the sector that you operate in or your level of experience, we have a specialised course to meet your needs and circumstances.
