Peer Mentoring

Course Overview

Peer mentoring is highly adaptable to a wide variety of contexts. For example, it can take place in an educational setting through student-to-student programmes at primary, secondary, or further education levels. It can also be part of a community based scheme, such as peer to peer support for homelessness, refugees, overcoming addiction, rehabilitation and more. With the Youth Endowment Fund reporting that mentoring programmes designed to tackle crime and associated behaviours reduced violence by 21%, it is clear that peer mentoring can have a profoundly positive impact.

In this level 2 course, learners gain an understanding of the fundamental principles which underpin mentoring. Topics include maintaining healthy boundaries, the responsibilities of their role, and how to effectively use their personal experiences to guide and advise another. Check out our case study on the training we ran with TCES to find out more about how this type of programme could work in your setting!

The course consists of 8 modules which can be completed virtually, either as an individual or as part of an organisation’s wider mentoring programme provision. In the event of a setting or community group wanting to establish a wider peer mentoring system, we can discuss further tailoring of the course content and delivery to their specific aims.
